Having been in the make up industry
for over 25 years I decided to brush up my skills by attending
an intense Mac make up course in London recently. I was lucky to
get onto this course as demand is high and its not run anywhere
else in the world. The course was run by the very talented David
Horne and assisted by Gozra, a fabulous make up artist.
I came away having made wonderful friends and with renewed love
and passion for my art.

MEHNDI MELA 2006 |

UK henna artists Riffat Bahar
and Catharine Hinton are
organising a gathering for henna artists and henna
hobbyists throughout the UK and Europe.
The event is called Mehndi Mela and will be held
at Baylis House, Slough, near London on the 29th Oct
2006. The event will include lunch, refreshments and
workshop materials .There will also be a small shop for
attendees to stock up on essentials such as superior
grade henna, cones and bindis.
Well-respected Bridal Mehndi artist Riffat says ‘We
would like to invite everyone, whether they are have
been hennaing since childhood or are completely new to
the art of henna, to join us to get to know each other
and share knowledge and experience’. The event is open
to everyone whether they are based in the UK, Europe or
even just passing
The emphasis of the day is on sharing techniques and
having fun – everything from rolling cones and mixing
paste through to the latest fashions in contemporary
mehndi will be looked at. Catharine adds that ‘Henna
artists don’t often get the opportunity to be hennaed
themselves - so we have made sure there is plenty of
time throughout the day to enjoy being pampered with
beautiful mehndi

U.K Henna
Conference |

The U.K's first ever Henna
Conference, hosted by Catherine Cartwright-Jones from the
Henna Page was held in the Cotswolds in March, featuring
guest teacher Riffat. Traditional bridal mehndi and make up were
demonstrated by Riffat to create the perfect Indian bride from head to
toe.
This was such a huge success that Riffat has been invited by
Catherine to fly to Vegas next year to demonstrate her skills to
an American audience. |

Celebrate the Art of Mehndi Together in the Spirit of
Sharing and Learning!
